The Automation Engineering group has successfully completed many programmable logic controls (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) migrations in the food and beverage, refrigeration, and manufacturing industries. Upgrading existing PLCs and HMIs to current platforms and ladder logic standards is our specialty.

- Allen Bradley MicroLogix
- Allen Bradley SLC
- Square D Symax
We utilize current platforms such as Allen Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix or Siemens TIA Portal for each of our migrations. Migrations include code conversions, verifications, and implemented updates. Some of our customers also opt to add HMI capabilities at the same time in an effort to reduce wiring.

Systematic Migration with Minimized Downtime
We provide a systematic migration to keep the current process running with minimized downtime during the conversion. Working with production and scheduling, Shambaugh engineers can effectively plan the migration in a way that reduces downtime impact. Each situation is unique with many potential time-saving solutions. In the past, we’ve utilized pre-wired component replacements or fully assembled new control panels for installation at the conversion.
Along with the migrations, other antiquated equipment or controls can be upgraded to bring systems to current technology thus reducing maintenance issues.
