Value Delivered
Our design limited the client’s potential productivity and revenue losses through rapid-response damage control; enhanced production processes and systems; reduced environmental impact; improved product quality and enabled faster operations. Shambaugh’s “fast-track” delivery put the client back in business three-to-four months earlier than expected.
Client Objectives
The client needed to rebuild its 77,000-square-foot production facility in Bluffton, IN after it was predominently destroyed by fire.
Scope of Services
Shambaugh provided a fast-track Design-Build solution that involved all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general construction disciplines. Using specialized software, the company integrated the multiple programmable logic controllers that run the process and packaging equipment. The company also prefabricated platforms and piping systems to save time during on-site placement and installation.
Shambaugh made several operational improvements as well. The firm designed an industrial waste system to control biological wastes and effluent Ph; it also developed an HVAC system that controls and balances temperature and humidity in the packaging area, improving product quality.
Finally, the firm elevated the coating tumbler to simplify and reduce clean-up time. The Pretzels Rebuild Project was awarded DBIA National Design-Build – Industrial Process Award.
