Value Delivered
This ammonia refrigeration system was prefabricated in Shambaugh's fabrication facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana, skid mounted and shipped to the Rockaway, NJ facility for cost efficient installation.
Client Objectives
Edy’s Grand Ice Cream needed a cold storage system at their Rockaway, N.J. plant that would meet the increasing demands on CFC’s and HCFC refrigerants.
Scope of Services
Shambaugh dual-designed an ammonia refrigerant system that uses R-22 initially, and, when required, be converted to ammonia. To help keep energy costs to a minimum, an under-floor freeze protection system was designed to circulate with glycol, which is heated from the compressor’s discharge gas through a shell-and-tube heat exchanger.
The ammonia refrigeration controls systems, engineered and installed by Shambaugh's Controls Division, are PLC5, and are monitored via computer and telephone modem.
