Alan Jacobs

Alan helps ensure our fire protection construction projects result in high-performance solutions that deliver optimum operation, reliability, and value. He is directly responsible for Shambaugh’s Chicago, South Bend, and Kalamazoo fire protection locations. 

At each location, Alan helps to develop and enforce best practices for operational efficiency. He evaluates performance and recommends improvements, while maintaining the fire protection group’s high standards. 

Additionally, Alan assists with communication and implementation of safety policies, supporting safety managers in an effort to help ensure employees receive the training they need to keep their expertise up to date. 

In coordination with the Branch Manager, Alan also oversees daily operations at our Chicago location. This encompasses everything from sales and project estimates to engineering and design. 

Expertise

Alan has been a part of the Shambaugh team since 2007. He started his career as a fire sprinkler designer and progressed through roles of increasing responsibility, including in training, sales, estimating, and branch management, before reaching his current position. 

Equipped with versatile expertise, Alan’s experience includes a wide range of project types such as distribution centers, industrial, assisted living and residential, institutional, healthcare, high-rise, and stadium construction. In all of his work, he has always aimed to deliver clients versatile and economical fire systems without compromising quality or customer service.

Alan is a Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) and currently serves as the Chairman of the Illinois Chapter of the National Fire Sprinkler Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Valparaiso University and a Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University.
