Vice President and Controller
Tom is responsible for many of Shambaugh’s day-to-day financial operations, including financial reporting, field and office payroll, accounts payable, tax reporting, trade licensing, internal and external financial tax, and union audits. He also helps customers address various sales tax issues regarding their proposals.
Throughout his career, Tom has developed strong relationships with various vendors and unions and is continuously working to build new long-term relationships that help the company thrive.
Tom has over 27 years of management experience, more than 23 of those with Shambaugh. Before joining Shambaugh, he worked for a regional-size public accounting firm. He has extensive expertise of audit, tax, and financial reporting functions for construction, manufacturing, and hospitality firms.
Tom earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from Indiana University. He continues to stay current with accounting and tax issues by reading business journals and attending financial- and construction-related seminars.
A certified public accountant in Indiana, Tom is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana Society of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves as Trustee of a local pension plan, is Vice President of the Northern Indiana Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI), and a member of the Building Contractors Association of Northeast Indiana (BCA).
Tom and his wife have a son and a daughter. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys boating, biking, and taking opportunities to travel.
