Charlie Pavelec, P.E., DBIA

Senior Vice President, Electrical

Value Delivered

As head of the company's electrical division, Charlie helps clients obtain the electrical solutions they need for optimum power, energy efficiency, and operating performance. His responsibilities include ensuring that all estimates are timely and accurate, systems are properly designed for maximum performance, projects are managed efficiently, systems and equipment are properly installed, and all personnel are fully trained, licensed, and certified.

During the design and bidding process, he evaluates the feasibility, economics, and practicality of each design and then continues his involvement in design development by conducting ongoing quality control reviews. During these reviews, he combines his technical expertise and engineering knowledge to evaluate the total design and build process. The overall result is projects that give clients the high-performance systems they need to succeed and the value they expect from a leading electrical solutions provider.

Charlie has over 23 years of electrical construction industry experience, primarily in the commercial and institutional sectors. After working his way up from estimator to president at another electrical contracting firm, Charlie joined Shambaugh in 2011 as vice president, electrical design/build and technology. The company promoted him to his present position in 2012.

Over the course of his career, he has developed extensive expertise in an array of areas, including budget preparation, engineering, and project management. He has been involved in projects ranging from $50,000 to $15,000,000 with applications as varied as lighting, power distribution, life safety, standby, low-voltage, CCTV, fiber optics, and control interfaces.

Charlie holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science and an MBA (Master’s in Business Administration) from Lindenwood University.

A professional engineer in 39 states, he is a member of the Design/Build Institute of America, Building Contractors of Northeast Indiana, and the St. Louis Engineer's Club. He is also a member of the Indiana National Electrical Contractors Association.
