Daniel J. Ritzert, DBIA

Senior Vice President, Division Manager of Mechanical Process Group

Value Delivered

Dan is responsible to manage the activities of Shambaugh & Son’s Engineering Departments to ensure designs are safe, reliable, economically justifiable, constructible within the allotted time and consistent with sound, best practices and procedures for the industries we serve. Working with our team of experienced Program Managers and outside Architectural/Civil/Structural engineering firms, Dan oversees each of our Design-Build Part I Conceptual Engineering Studies to ensure that scopes of work are clearly defined, appropriately scheduled and estimated for our customers.

Dan places an emphasis on needs vs. wants, ensuring that the desired result is both known and achieved and promotes a culture of accountability and creativity to ensure that challenges are met with solutions. Ultimately, Dan is responsible for the Shambaugh Division which provides fully-integrated, single-source design, installation and maintenance of highly automated, hygienic process systems for the dairy, pharmaceutical, beverage, meat and snack food industries.

Expertise

Dan has been a valued member of the Shambaugh team for over 18 years. His success is built upon a solid base of experience and diversification which includes: numerous food process projects totaling over $120 million; over $100 million in maintenance, capital projects and Design-Build construction in bulk pharmaceutical facilities; managing numerous mechanical projects for customers across central and northern Indiana; working in our estimating department after graduation from Purdue University; and constructing/supervising a 200 exam room MOB addition/renovation as a Journeyman Plumber before going back to school.

Dan’s diverse experience from field piping installer to leader of our engineering groups makes him uniquely qualified to lead our teams during conceptual design, scheduling and budgeting phases on our often highly-automated, process-intense, schedule-critical projects.

Dan earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Engineering Management from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. His professional background includes multiple certifications and training accolades: Indiana Fundamentals of Engineering licensure, DBIA Certification in Design-Build Project Delivery and Indiana-licensed Journeyman Plumber.

The Personal Side

Dan is married to Denise, has three children and enjoys boating, biking, camping, skiing and working outside.
